Let It Ride
Created on February 21, 2023.
Let It Ride is a casino card game based on Five Card Stud poker, but with a few differences. Players must make three bets and can pull back one of the first two bets if their hand is not good enough to win. The goal is to have the best possible five-card poker hand. The game has a low house edge and a relatively low variance, so it is popular with low and medium rollers.
In this article, we’ll cover the basics of Let It Ride and some strategies to improve your chances of winning.
First, let’s cover the basics of the game. As mentioned earlier, Let It Ride is based on Five Card Stud poker. The game starts with each player placing three equal bets on the table. The dealer then deals three cards face down to each player, and two community cards face down in the middle.
The players then have the choice to “let it ride” and keep their three bets or “pull back” one or two bets. If they let it ride, they are hoping to make a good hand using their three cards and the two community cards. After all players have either let it ride or pulled back their bets, the dealer flips over the two community cards. If a player has a winning hand, they are paid out based on the pay table for the casino. If not, all remaining bets are taken by the dealer.
Now that you know the basics, let’s discuss how to play Let It Ride to maximize your chances of success. The key to success in any game of chance is understanding when you should pull back and when you should let it ride.
First, always pull back your bet if you have a pair of 10s or less. The odds are too low for you to win, and it is better to save your money. Also, if your three cards don’t include at least one high card (10 or higher) and at least one lower card (8-9), then you should also pull back your bet. This is because the likelihood of your making a high pair or a straight/flush is small with this kind of hand.
On the other hand, if your three cards include at least one high card and at least one lower card, you should let it ride. This is because it is likely that you will make a pair or better with the help of the two community cards.
Another strategy to consider is the Dealer’s Up Card. If the Dealer’s Up Card is a King, Queen, Jack, 10, or Ace, you should let it ride because it is possible that you will make a pair or a flush with your hand. If the Dealer’s Up Card is a 7, 8, 9, he then you should pull back your bet because it is unlikely that you will make a better hand.
Finally, it is important to pay attention to the two community cards. If you have a pair and the community cards are not useful for making a flush or a straight, you should still pull back your bet. Likewise, if the Dealer’s Up Card is a 7 or below, but the two community cards are 10s or higher, you should still let it ride because you are likely to make a better hand.
By following these strategies and paying attention to the Dealer’s Up Card, your pair and the community cards, you increases your chances of success in Let It Ride. Keep in mind that the house still has an edge in any casino game, no matter how good your strategy is. The key to success is to play smart and stay disciplined.
